Victoria Kitanov Fine Art Railway Rolling Stock & Marine Art
On marine painting:
"Victoria has tapped into something sentimental to those of us who grew up around the Harbour,
knew those old blokes, sailed those skiffs, and tinkered happily for hours in those old boat sheds..."
~ Michael Hannan
On the Art of Railways:
"I grew up in a household of railway shiftworkers - Dad was a Guard, Mike rose to Station Master & Safe Working Instructor, Mark in HQ Information Technology, and I was recruited as an interstate train 'trolley dolly' before taking a different path!
As a child, seated with my parents on a platform at Strathfield or Hornsby, I recall an unseen voice sound the names of remote locations that formed word pictures in my mind: "Broadmeadow...Newcastle...Lochinvar...Muswellbrook...Scone...
Murrurundi...Armidale.. or Orange...Dubbo...Eumungerie...Gilgandra...
Gulargumbone...Lightening Ridge..."
And on a hot afternoon long, long ago, when we just missed the train from Parkes and instead, hitched a ride in the Guard's compartment with its open caboose 'verandah', just riding the rails to Adelaide in the warm evening breeze..."
Australian rolling stock, night track work, track work vehicles, and old country stations, platform canteens, and all the associated history holds, for me, an endlessly magical fascination" ~ Victoria Kitanov
